This campaign is inspired by Biblical principles of charity, generosity, and love for neighbor. Many of us are receiving Federal stimulus checks but are eager to support the community around us. We propose donating 10% of these checks towards our affiliate partners who have well-established relationships within the Portland metropolitan area.
$120 to Refugee Care Collective would mean helping a family of six with their utility bill.
$120 to The Voices Project would mean serving 2.5 families with grocery gift cards.
$120 to Union Gospel Mission would mean proving food boxes, meals and other essential care to 34 people.
10% of our time
For or those who are also interested, we are calling people to donate 10% of their time towards volunteering with local organizations. Consider partnering with Refugee Care Collective, The Voices Project Gift Card Campaign, or Union Gospel Mission.
10% of your time with Refugee Care Collective could look like:
Rallying your community to add in items for new families when they make their grocery store runs
Taking time to be trained online now so that you can volunteer in person after COVID-19
Helping folks practice English, even from a distance
10% of your time with The Voices Project Gift Card Campaign could look like:
Delivering gift cards to families in need
10% of your time with the Union Gospel Mission could look like:
Serving those in need in homeless camps and tent cities around Portland
Volunteering with the mobile outreach van Search + Rescue
