Who we are
We are a cohort of graduate students in the Global Development and Justice program at Multnomah University. In response to the COVID-19 crisis, we are initiating the Ten Percent Campaign. We are asking people to consider how they can give 10% of their time, Federal stimulus check, or both to nonprofits who are working with families and individuals in Portland experiencing hardship. As federal stimulus checks arrive in April, we are asking those who have not been significantly impacted financially to give above and beyond their normal giving and to consider donating ten percent of this additional income.
Vulnerable communities are experiencing hardships as they face significant risks of food, shelter, and financial insecurity. According to our research, we have identified three groups of people who are at increased risk in Portland. These populations include refugees, houseless people, and those experiencing food and financial insecurity. To meet community needs, we are partnering with The Voices Project Gift Card Campaign, Refugee Care Collective, and Union Gospel Mission to give support. We firmly believe these organizations show a strong dedication and partnership with their clients and consistently utilize best practices in their field.
